Uni.

So I went to uni today to get my student card laminated. Yep, laminated. Unlike all the other universities in Australia - who get cards made of hard, credit card-esque plastic, USYDers need to have a passport sized photo and a printed piece of cardboard heat-laminted, old-school. We're the oldest university in Australia and our student ID technology is of equal vintage.

Today was also the start of O-Week. So on the short walk between the Victoria Park gates and the Assembly Hall of the Old Teachers' College, I was accosted by no less than five hoodlums from the Evangelical Union - the most irritating of the Christian groups on campus (the word insidious first came to mind but that's a bit harsh). Gah! But I'm a second-year student now, I'm wise to their tricks. I can, however, only hope for the best for some of the naïve and vulnerable first-year kids, falling like easy prey.

They also have a lot of really cute boys, the EU does. I spot them and then I lust for them-- and then I see them in one of those T-shirts with "Jesus Christ is Lord" inscribed on the back. Ironically, that angelic/devilish aura that I had put around them in my mind extinguishes. Visions of the hot boys making sweet love to me quickly morph into ones where they're trying to convert me and get me to go to church.

But if the church in question is St Charles in Ryde, then I wouldn't mind as much, I suppose. After all, spunky Chad-Michael-Murray-lookalike Christian is a regular there. Sigh.
