Technology.
Mum bought a new computer. Since early last year, her house has been computerless and the only machine that the family ever sees is my laptop that I bring with me when I visit every weekend. The new machine's nothing special, of course - Packard Bell, Intel Celeron 2.66GHz, 40GB hard disk, 256MB RAM, Windows XP Home Edition. It was cheap though, Harvey Norman was off loading them for A$691 (the monitor was sold separately at $194).
I'd been nagging her to get a new one for ages. Frankly, I got sick of my uncle surfing for porn on my computer. And there were personal space issues with everyone else queuing up to do this or that. Alright I admit it, I can't share. My computer is more like a wallet than a piece of utilitarian furniture - I get edgy whenever someone's grubby fingers are rifling through it. Now this may sound sad and pathetic, but having someone else use my laptop is like having my personal space invaded. Need I tell you how violated I was to find evidence of straight porn in the Firefox history folder? But I digress.
So I've set myself up as system administrator. Now I can exert my newfound big brother-esque powers over my unsuspecting family and their web habits. Muahaha.
I also made a new mix-CD, entitled Night Driving. There isn't any sort of theme to it, just a few tracks to play in the car while on the road after dark.
