Did I mention spewing on the front lawns?
So the first week back at uni has been and gone and I've survived - so that's a plus. It was nicely capped off at the end with a bit of a piss up at where else but Manning Bar. And now with the Union Card, schooeys of Toohey's New are only three dollars! Ergo I'm an even cheaper drunk!
First-year kids seemed to gravitate towards Simon, Min Li and I. What is it about us that attracted them? I have no idea myself. There was this one boy who hung around with us for the whole night and he was really nice. I liked him. He was Michael, formerly of Bathurst and currently of Chippendale. Straight as a nail of course but likeable nonetheless. He was in the process of quitting the smokes (and good on him) but he looked ready to suck the life out of the nicorette patch on his yummy tricep.
I'd had a few when I called Darren and got him to come down. Despite the tenuous sort of situation that we've got between us - or the non-existence of any kind of situation between us at all, it was good to see him. I'll have to admit, I did miss him a little.
So after he arrived, more drinking ensued. Eventually I was inebriated enough to boogey on down to the dance floor. But one more drink and I was spent. And I didn't even get to see/hear Ministry of Sound's Mark Dynamix, and I was looking forward to that! I think Darren was in the same kind of way and we stumbled out of Manning House and headed off to his place to crash for the night - but not directly, of course.
We meandered into the Quad and laid under the jacaranda tree for a while before I threw up somewhere near the front lawns.
When we got back to his place, I just died and fell asleep. The next morning I woke up to the news that his terrarium had become an aquarium - Kodak, his spider, had died! Poor him. But on the up side, he has fish now.
I didn't have that much of a hangover but I didn't want to get up either. I laid there in his bed wrapped in his doona, refusing to move. Well eventually I had to; I had a Mac Lab at uni and he had to go to work so I begrudgingly hugged him at his front door and we left in opposite directions on Broadway.
But just so you all know, there wasn't any hanky-panky type business - just drunken slumber.
