MikeyCorp posts deficit for fourth successive week
January 17, 2005
MikeyNation correspondent Mack Moo Cow reports:
The CEO of MikeyCorp, the statutory corporation whose portfolio includes the Treasury of MikeyNation, has announced the fourth budget deficit in as many weeks.
Higher than normal spending coupled with lower revenues over the previous weeks were the causes which attributed to a looming fiscal crisis, the CEO said today.
Foreign investment over the Christmas period funded the recent consecutive budget overruns and helped to cushion the impact of the economic downturn but the fresh capital is rapidly running dry.
According to official papers published today by Treasury, funds in government coffers now amount to A$2.90. Foreign debt currently stands at A$10 but is set to rise due to several large and small financial commitments - namely the Melbourne Travel Initiative and the Birthday commemorations in neighbouring Adamland.
The crisis is far from being resolved and is set to become worse, with new data from the Bureau of Statistics declaring that unemployment is at a record 100%.
Fortunately, health expenditure has been low due to the reasonably good health of MikeyNationals, and so has spending on education, which can be credited to university holidays. However more funding has been allocated to telecommunications, public transport and the arts, namely the fashion, film and music industries.
In a statement released today, the General Secretary of MikeyNation announced a proposal for a subsidy scheme with the Bank of Mum, not dissimilar to the "Left Shoe/Right Shoe" policy of previous eras, for the acquisition of the important commodity of food which has in recent times has experienced an increase in spending.
In other news, negotiations continue on the Free Hug Agreement with the Darren Development Bank.
