I was digging around at home today and I found my Pentax MG SLR.

My Pentax MG
The cyclopic eye of the Pentax MG - and the bad nineties decor of my kitchen.

It was Mum's, but I have it now. It's older than me. There was a bit of film left - a whole roll of 35mm Illford XP b&w - and I shot that off. There's nothing like that reassuring clunk after you press the shutter release button. And I missed having control over all the shutter speed and aperture settings.

Ever since I'd acquired the digital camera - the Pentax 33LF - or maybe even long before that, I'd neglected my poor MG. It's such a robust little thing. Mum bought it in 1981 and here it is, twenty four years later. And I've thrashed it about for at least the last four or five.

I've been re-inspired by the likes of 334pixels, Shutterfly and PhotoSydney. It's time to put all that stuff I'd learnt in high school photography class into practice again. MG's going to see a lot more use from now on.
