I saw Ladder 49 with Mattymoo tonight. It wasn't what I was expecting (the movie, that is) - I was thinking that it'd be a Die Hard-esque kind of movie, a la Die Hard with a Fire Hose. But no, it wasn't to be. I mean, it was still good, it's more of a drama than an action flick. Although, I did get a tiny little bit of a vibe that the director and/or writer was laying it on a bit thick with the firemen-are-great-American-heroes thing.
Just reading that last paragraph back, it looks like a dodgy, third-rate review. All that's missing is a star rating. Which I'm not going to bother with - it's all too subjective anyway.
Also, I'm quite impressed that Matt would drive all the way out to Mum's house to pick me up, drive all the way to Hornsby for the movie, then all the way back to Mum's to drop me off and then all the way back home. I feel bad, I think I should give him some petrol money or something. Just goes to show how great a buddy he is, I suppose.
I still maintain that Matt's shoulder is the best one to hide behind when cowering from the bad and/or scary movie bits. And his increasingly gym-toned biceps don't hurt things either.
